Riding in the Yorkshire Dales

Ride out daily from our stables situated close to Kilnsey Crag in the Wharfedale Valley. Explore the ancient green lanes and bridle paths of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and beyond. 

We can supply maps for rides and are always available to share our local knowledge, leaving you free to set your own agenda and enjoy a truly bespoke holiday. Enjoy the wilds of Wharfedale in the exclusive company of friends or family at your own pace.

Craven Country Ride

The Craven Country Ride is a favourite with many of our guests at The Sheep Dip. Located approximately 15 miles from our accommodation, Pot Haw Farm offer 600 acres of farm rides.

The routes are clearly marked and include water complexes, stepped banks, trakehners, logs, portable jumps and bendy poles. The farm also runs cross country training days throughout the season. Riders of all abilities are welcome.

Kilnsey Park Estate

A five minute walk from The Sheep Dip, Kilnsey Park Estate offer half and full day fly fishing on two spring-fed trout lakes. The attraction is open all year round for fishing. 

The 'Cafe by the Lake' serves home cooked food and refreshments. The estate shop is stocked with local produce including home-reared rainbow trout and smoked fish, meat and game from the onsite smokery aptly named The Holy Smokery.

Long Ashes Pure Spa

The Pure Spa at Long Ashes Park offer a wide range of beauty treatments, a hair salon and air conditioned gym. The facilities include 3 treatments rooms, steam room, sauna, Jacuzzi and a 15m indoor heated pool.

The Spa cafe serves a wide range of refreshments and light meals, while the Gamekeeper's Inn next door provides traditional pub food and a variety of ales.

Riding holidays for children

Run throughout the summer holidays, pony weeks are a great opportunity for youngsters to learn all about horses and ponies in a fun and friendly environment.

Taught by BHS qualified riding instructors at our Pony Club approved riding centre, activities include stable management, grooming, riding lessons, mounted games and caring for tack.
